Label Rouge

A friend of mine developed a thesis that whatever you want to do, someone has already been smart or stupid enough to go through with it.. He grounds his theory on dubious excerpts of the the daily star, the sun and Wikipedia.

I can apply his theory to my own case. Disappointment overwhelmed me when I realised that Dabö had already done the post I was thinking of. 

We already spoke of Dabo  as a producer, recently signed on Bossman, but it appears that he is as well a blogger (I mean for real). Anyway he is cool and has allowed us to traduce and pervert his “world tour in ten labels”.

Origin : France
Why follow them ? : In no more than five EP, the label managed to construct and impose its own minimalist style, characterised by a balance between tribal percussion and inspiring samples.

A team of really young and promising producers (most of them would be underage in the US). A leading label concerning Electro Tropical.

A really prolific label, with different artists for every EP, though never disappointing and offering the best of bass Music.

The flaw :
Scatered in so many sound and artists, the label may seem to struggle in finding a characteristic sound, same thing concerning the design sometimes a bit cheesy.

Worth Watching :

PMR : Since the 10 January, with a good EP from Julio Bashmore.
Ten Thousand Yen : Since July 2010.
Bossman records : A fresh label that declared its intentions with a sweet EP that you can legally download here (http://www.mediafire.com/?cv5cb148y888crs), to be continued.
DBTY : The label of the crew, 4 quality EPs so far.
No Brainer Records : Malente’s label gave birth to three good EPs and a product that I will personally define as catastrophic (remixing Star Wars Theme… not a good idea).



Dinosaur Dog note :

As I said this Post aggregate most of the thing we like here. However, there is a big disappointement concerning the availability of the tracks of certain labels such as night slugs or sweat it out! on the web. It would be nice to embed some of their tracks with soundcloud.

And concerning Malente Star Wars Ep, yes it is a really slippery slope but as bad as the original and the video may be, I think the remix by Myd is quite nice.
